Electrical Spreadsheet Estimating Using Microsoft Excel

Summary

While we don't know the actual figures, it is obvious that many Electrical Estimators are using Microsoft Excel as their primary estimating system.  Even those who own one of the powerful (expensive) estimating systems frequently revert to Excel because they find it easier for small estimates.

Excel is a great estimating medium, but most of those using home grown Excel spreadsheets don't get Excel's full benefit.  There are usually some problems with home grown estimating spreadsheets.  Of these problems, the main one is lack of a meaningful database (or no database), which can be updated from a national pricing service.  Other shortcomings are formulas that are geared to single units (not per/100 or per/1000), ease of use in finding items in the database and moving completed estimates out of the Excel.

Basically, home grown estimating systems, while frequently very clever, fall short of using Excel to its maximum.

This is where The Spreadsheet Tool comes in.  We provide the electrical estimating database and functions.  We offer a lot of Electrical Estimating Power at a very reasonable price.

For those of you who already use Excel, there is practically nothing else to learn.

For those not familiar with Excel, there is a modest learning curve (mostly learning Excel).  Our system does not require extensive knowledge of Excel, the complicated stuff is already done, so beginners can concentrate on the basics.
